The Soulpreneurs Series

Meet Umma – founder of Heart & Harmony, a soul-led guide for people who are brand new to spirituality and quietly craving something deeper. Her path didn’t start with a business plan - it started after becoming a mum, when soul-searching led her to crystals, then Reiki, then Theta Healing, and now even cacao facilitation. With a natural teaching style (and a very real, relatable journey from introvert to confident conversationalist), Umma helps people explore spiritual tools in a grounded way - without the overwhelm, and without the “woo woo” pressure.

Crystals, Confidence and Becoming One Whole You

Umma’s story is one so many soulpreneurs will recognise: it began with a whisper, not a spreadsheet.

After having her daughter seven years ago, Umma found herself on a soul-searching path. What started as curiosity became a deep calling - first through crystals, then through Reiki, and later Theta Healing. Along the way she created crystal jewellery, crafted crystal trees and even hosted her very first pop-up event (with zero idea what she was doing - which, honestly, makes it even more iconic).

And like many people on this path, her business name evolved as she evolved:

  • Arts and Crafts by Umma (cute, but long)

  • Spiritual Creations by Umma (even longer!)

  • And finally the one that landed in her soul - Heart & Harmony 7 - a name that came to her in Glastonbury, and instantly felt like home.

Theta Healing: the “belief work” that goes deeper

Umma explains Theta Healing simply: it’s subconscious belief work - uncovering the deeper patterns, blocks and programmes that quietly run your life.

While Reiki remains her go-to, Theta brought something new: the practice of tapping into a higher level of guidance (often described as the “seventh plane”), and doing healing from beyond her personal belief system. And even though she’s still growing in Theta, she’s already seen powerful results - especially with her own self-beliefs.

Who Heart & Harmony is for

Umma is crystal-clear about who she serves: people who are waking up.

The ones who are curious but confused. The ones who don’t want spiritual jargon - they just want to know:

  • What does this crystal actually do?

  • How do I use Reiki in a real-life way?

  • Where do I even start?

Because Umma remembers what it felt like to be at the beginning - carrying tiny crystals on holiday just because they made her feel better, without knowing why. She’s passionate about giving people simple, accessible answers so they can start their journey with confidence.

The big shift: “I’m not two people”

This part is gold for any woman with a 9–5 and a soul-led business.

Umma shares that for a long time, she kept her spiritual side separate from work because it didn’t feel “professional”. But as her confidence grew, she realised something huge:

She’s the same Umma in both worlds.

In fact, many of her clients have started coming through her workplace - colleagues, students, people who’ve heard her casually mention grounding, breathwork or meditation before a session. And that became her confirmation: these worlds don’t need to be separate.

Her advice if you feel split between “professional you” and “spiritual you”:

  • Start integrating in tiny ways

  • Share a mindfulness quote before a meeting

  • Mention grounding or breathwork casually

  • Normalise wellbeing conversations at work

Because the truth is: wellbeing is the language of the workplace now — even when organisations don’t fully walk the talk.

A supportive South Asian family (and a new generation who “gets it”)

Umma also shares something refreshing: her family is genuinely open.

Her daughter is naturally intuitive and uses tools like the “whiteboard technique” to release heavy feelings. Umma’s also attuned her mum and mother-in-law to Reiki - not because she forced it, but because they asked. Even her niece and nephew request Reiki and crystals.

It’s a beautiful reminder that cultural stories can shift - especially when someone in the family becomes the bridge.

The Spiritual Toolbox: Umma’s real-life rituals

If you loved the “toolbox” theme in the interview, you’ll love this part.

Umma’s go-to tools for overwhelm aren’t just spiritual - they’re lifestyle-led too:

Her top crystals:

  • Selenite (clearing)

  • Tourmaline (protection)

  • Citrine (energy + uplift)

Energetic hygiene:

  • Cord cutting (because empaths attach without realising)

Grounding + movement:

  • Walking (she’s in her power-walk era - and we love to see it)

Clean living:
Umma is big on keeping her channel clear: clean eating, low toxins, no alcohol, vegetarian (borderline vegan), conscious consumption.

And she’s seen the results firsthand - from struggling to walk 10 minutes to the station, to smashing 24,000 steps on a Sunday like it’s a casual stroll.

Her reminder is simple: your body is part of your spiritual practice.

Men need healing too

One of the most powerful moments in the interview is when Umma talks about supporting a South Asian male colleague through a break-up.

That first session surprised her - not because he didn’t “need it”, but because she hadn’t considered men as clients. The result? He felt lighter, more supported and booked again.

Umma explains it beautifully: if we help men heal, they become better men for the women and children in their lives too. And Reiki is often the perfect first step because:

“Reiki meets you where you are.”

No forcing. No digging where you’re not ready. Just intelligent, steady support.

Umma’s Soulpreneur advice (aka: your business toolkit)

Umma doesn’t give one piece of advice - she gives a whole toolkit:

  • Get a mentor (someone who understands business and can hold the vision with you)

  • Don’t wait for perfect - just start

  • Social media isn’t the only way (you don’t know who’s watching)

  • Invest wisely (you often have to spend money to make money)

  • Talk to people (real conversations create real clients)

  • Follow your path (not everyone else’s strategy will fit you)

And honestly? Her vibe is: keep moving, keep learning, keep trusting.
