Supporting Mental Health from the Start
When UWW first began, it was more than just a community—it was a movement dedicated to making a difference. From the very start, 100% of profits went to MIND charity, and by the end of 2018, we had collectively raised over £12,000 through fundraising events, community contributions, and our special awards evening, Dancing with the Wolves.

Empowering the Next Generation Through Education
During the pandemic, my friend Renu asked if I wanted to contribute towards a young girl’s education. That’s how I became part of a small group supporting Aisha, who had dreams of becoming a nurse. While funding her education, I also began sponsoring her siblings, ensuring they had the same opportunities.
What started as a small act of giving has since grown into something incredible. Today, UWW community members collectively sponsor 30 children through the Gatan Marayu Foundation (GMF) in Nigeria, helping them access education and break the cycle of poverty.

At the start of 2025, I proudly became the UK Ambassador for GMF, deepening my commitment to supporting vulnerable children and widowed mothers.
About Gatan Marayu Foundation (GMF)
Gatan Marayu Foundation (Hausa for “Shield of Orphans”) is a non-governmental organisation operating in Kano State, Nigeria, since 2008. Originally founded by four women, the foundation is dedicated to:

Providing access to education for orphaned and vulnerable children.

Supporting widowed mothers with financial literacy, small business funding, and mentoring.

Breaking the cycle of poverty through skills training and economic empowerment.
Since its inception, GMF has helped between 250-300 students per year stay in school, with over 50 students currently in university. UWW currently sponsor 30 of these children.
